Obituary of John Robert Burkett

John Robert Burkett March 25, 1929 - May 23, 2021 Robert was born in Miami, Florida on March 25, 1929 to Sylas and Ruth Patrick Burkett. He graduated from Miami High School and began his career with Southern Bell. He joined the U.S. Army and spent most of that time at a base in Panama. After returning home he continued his career with Southern Bell. He was transferred to Cocoa with Southern Bell and later began working in Titusville until he retired. He loved to work and began working for BBTS until again retiring. He always looked forward to his Patrick cousin's reunion held in May at Jekyll Island. He was a 64-year resident of Brevard County, living at Lake Poinsett in Cocoa. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 62 years, Mabel Jo Burkett, an infant son, two sons, Lynn and John Burkett, and his sister O'Dwaine Whipple. He is survived by daughters-in-law, Janet (Charlie) Matthews, Kathy (Ed) Arvonio, Grandchildren, Amy Cryderman, Jamie and John Burkett, Great-Grandchildren Lexis, Gavin, Jason, Tyler, Madison and Brynslee. Sister Martha Sherman. He was a man of honesty, and integrity and loved his God, family, friends and country dearly!
