Obituary of Melanie Carr

After a brave five year battle with breast cancer, Melanie Carr passed on to her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on February 6, 2011. She is survived by her loving daughter, Michelle and devoted husband, John. She was born May 24th, 1960 in Pandacan, Manila, Philippines to her late parents, Lenora and Alfredo Rubio, as the youngest of seven siblings. She and John were married for 28 years. They moved to Merritt Island, FL in 1982 to be close to her two sisters, Rebecca and Elydia, deceased in 1993 and 2010 respectively. Most of her career was spent in banking as she was a bank teller with First Union in Cocoa Beach, FL and later a roving Teller Supervisor with Wachovia for 14 years. She is survived by a nephew, William Waite, who lives on Merritt Island and has a son, Fletcher. Other nephews include, Michael Yandre, living in Jacksonville, FL and Tommy Yandre, living in Houston, TX, and their father, Stan Yandre, a brother-in-law, lives in Merritt Island, FL. Melanie is also survived by her brother-in-law, Leon Carr in Lewisville, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Beth and Jim Mercer of McDaniels, Kentucky; and their six children, Carol, Pat, Stephen, Theresa, Tim, and Jessica. In the Philippines are a sister, Eliza; and three brothers, Alfredo, Rizaldy and Reynario, all with families. Melanie loved John and Michelle dearly. She was always fun to be around. She enjoyed her trips to Kentucky to visit family and had a passion for Florida Gator football. Even in the midst of her courageous battle she would be concerned with everyone around her which is a testimony to the quality of her character. She will be remembered as a beautiful, genuine and classy lady. She will be dearly missed and loved forever. Viewing and church service to be held Thursday, 6:00 PM at Hope United Church of Christ, 2555 Fiske Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955. Interment will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at Florida Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by family owned and operated Atlantic Mortuary and Cremation, Rockledge.
