Obituary of Kenneth Irwin Van Cott

Kenneth Irwin Van Cott, 87, of Titusville, FL, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully May 15 at Vitas Hospice in Rockledge, FL. Ken was born in Tarrytown, New York, May 21, 1932 to Kenneth and Marianna Morrill Van Cott. He grew up in Binghamton, NY and graduated high school from the Ransom Everglades School in Coconut Grove, FL. He attended Washington Lee College, Lexington, VA and graduated from Randolph Macon College, Ashland, VA. Ken had his own insurance agency in Rochester, NY and moved to Orlando, FL in 1968 where he was a commercial real estate agent for 35 years. He always had a pair of 'snake boots' in the car so he could "walk the land." In 1987, the Van Cott's moved to Titusville where Ken continued his real estate and worked at the Kennedy Space Center until his retirement. Ken is survived by his wife of 48 years, Vicki Ingwell Van Cott; 3 sons-Paul (Leslie), David (Laurie), Nic (Wendy) and 2 daughters-Sandra (Michael) and Marianna and son-in-law Todd Hutchinson; grandchildren-Dylan, Sasha, Bella, Ella, Max, Nelson, Olivia, Austin, Emily, Brady and Ethan; sister- Babette (Chris) Schmidt; 2 nephews-Mark (Maria) and Chris (Sara); mother-in-law-Kathleen Ingwell Elmer. He was preceded in death by his son Kenneth (Brinker) in 2019. Ken was an avid golfer and fisherman and was loved and respected by many; a fair and generous soul with a deep faith. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. To the end Ken was still witty and often had his smirk and a wink. He had his own unique song that played his entire life, through the love he gave and the gifts he shared, the memories he made. His song was filled with beauty and grace that played until he saw God face to face. If we listen, we will always still hear his song and carry it in our hearts forever. Ken's body was given to Atlantic Mortuary and Cremation for science and research. The family requests donations be given to Parkinson's Research. All are welcome to attend Ken's Celebration of Life, June 6, 2020, at 2:00 pm at The Grove Church, 1450 Harrison St, Titusville, Fl. Reception to follow.
