Obituary of Delores Rowell

In Loving Memory Delores Myers Rowell, of Merritt Island, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, April 11, 2021. Delores was born August 23, 1933 in Orangeburg County, SC, to the late Frederick Myers and the late Bessie Cook Myers. She is a graduate of Branchville High School and Draughon’s Business College where she graduated with a dual diploma in Accounting and Executive Secretary. She used her skills as an Executive Secretary to the Registrar at North Greenville Junior College and later for the Director of Development at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where she helped put her husband Robert through seminary. As a loving wife and mother, she served alongside her husband in Christian ministry for more than fifty years. She served as a secretary, pianist and organist in several churches. At First Baptist Church of Merritt Island, since 1979, she was known for her Super Senior Luncheon fun times, playing in the handbell choir, and welcoming many to Sunday class with her piano playing. All who knew her will remember her loving and generous personality as well as her love for God, music, and gardening. Delores is survived by her husband of 64 years Robert Rowell and their son and his wife Mark (Amy) Rowell. She is also survived by her grandsons and their wives; Tyler (Samantha) Saunders, Dalton (Andrea) Saunders and Joshua Rowell. She is predeceased by her daughter Joy Saunders. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 17th at the First Baptist Church of Merritt Island with visitation at 9:30.
