Obituary of Larry B Oyster

Larry B. Oyster, 71, passed away on April 2, 2022. Larry was born May 3, 1950, in Lupton, Michigan. He was one of eight children; sisters Susan Maddox of Bowie TX, Linda Pruitt & husband John of Jacksboro TX, Jean Card of Rose City Michigan, Brothers Russell Oyster & wife Gloria of MI, Joe Oyster of MI. Larry served in the 101st Air Bourne Division of the Unit States Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran & was awarded two Purple Hearts and many other awards for his service. After serving his country, Larry returned to Duncan, OK. and began a career at the Duncan Police Department where he retired as Lieutenant. Larry served the community of Duncan from 1974 until his retirement in 2000. He continued to serve his community as the Chief jail administrator for Stephens County Sheriff’s office for several years & the Jefferson County Department of Corrections. Larry met the love his life Rhonda Kay & married August 12, 1991. They resided in Duncan OK and In Waurika OK before retiring to Rockledge Florida. He loved the Lord with all his heart and always said, "God’s Got This." Larry loved spending time with his family especially, his perfect grandchildren; crafting with Rhonda, fishing and his very favorite pastime was watching Star Trek. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd (Red) & Marge Oyster, two sisters- Nancy Weaver & Joyce Gould, 1 grandson- Montgomery Teakell He is survived by his wife, Rhonda, six children: daughter Misty & husband Mike of Duncan OK, son George & wife Christy of Duncan OK, son Chris McAfee & wife Brenda of Galveston TX, son Brandon McAfee & wife Berenice of Galveston TX, daughter Tonya Fuller & Chris Fuller of Rockledge FL, son Darvin McAfee & wife LeAnna of Duncan OK; 14 grandchildren: Bailey, Michaela, Mason, Logan, Carter, Garrett, Hope, Hayden, Kaylee, Justice, Jasmine, Maggie, Darvin & Ivan Ray. As well as nephews, nieces, many cousins and countless friends. Service to be held at Open Range Cowboy Church at 1449 South 10th street in Duncan OK on April 9, 2022 at 1:30pm In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Oyster family.
