Obituary of William Mark Garrett

William Mark Garrett, 71, of Rockledge, Florida, passed away on December 28, 2021 at his home after a long battle with COPD. Mark was born in Greenville, SC and moved to central Florida as a child, graduating from Cocoa High School. After serving in the United States Marine Corps he came back to Cocoa to marry the love of his life, Betty Jane Bagwell. He later started up a very successful small business called Mark’s Masonry. Two of his proudest accomplishments in his business were completing the block work on the spring training grounds for the Florida Marlins, now the USSSA Space Coast Complex and making it to final rounds in Florida block laying competitions. Mark was well-known in the toy-collection circles as he and Betty enjoyed buying and selling at numerous toy shows across the state. He didn’t enjoy only small toys, as he always seemed to have a new boat, car, tractor, forklift, golf cart or some other variety of “toy” to keep himself entertained. They also enjoyed testing their luck with trips to the Hard Rock Casino and occasionally to Biloxi. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Cocoa. Mark is predeceased by his loving wife of 44 years, Betty, his mother Shirley Bennett, his father William, his sister Kathy, and his brother Paul. He is survived by his four children: Angela (and Mike) McGhee of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dusty of Rockledge, Florida; Jeff (and Tabatha) of Rockledge, Florida; Jeremy (and Ashley) of Tampa, Florida. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Breana, Logan, Hayley, Colton (Angela); Logan, Myles (Jeff); Hailey, Hunter, Adalynn, Josiah, Lorelai (Jeremy). He also leaves behind his brother Roger Garrett. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Cocoa on Brevard Ave in Cocoa, FL on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 1 PM followed by a gathering at Mark’s home at 1035 Bluegrass Lane, Rockledge, FL.
